Boston CD Release Party 2/11 @ Sally O’Brien’s

Hot on the heels of our Lowell CD Release Party, we are heading into Boston (Somerville, actually) to do it again. Come out to celebrate and hear the music!

When: Thursday, Feb 11, 8-11 p.m.

Where: Sally O’Brien’s in Union Square, Somerville

Why: Because you want to hear some great music, buy an autographed CD and maybe a t-shirt!

There’s no cover charge – so you have no excuse NOT to come. : )

See you there!

Amy and the Rascals

Somerville, you ready for Amy Black & the RCRs?

Well, we are ready for you.

We’ve been moving our way toward the city. Don’t get me wrong, we love all of our gigs in the northwest suburbs of Boston, and will keep doing them, but it’s good to venture out.

Last Saturday was our Boston debut. It felt great to be in the heart of the city playing on Harrison Ave at the SOWA market. We definitely drew a crowd of enthusiastic listeners. Some stayed for the entire two hours of the show (in the sun!).

So, next stop is the city of Somerville. We will be playing at Sally O’Brien’s. It’s a great neighborhood restaurant that supports Americana music. We are looking forward to it!

Michelle, won’t be with us (on fiddle) that night, but Fred Bement will join us on harp and my sis, Corrie Jones, that singing machine who lives in Davis Square, will be there as well.

We are there on Thursday, October 8 from 8:00-11:00 p.m.

We hope you can be there to witness when we take Somerville by storm! : )

Local press & “sneak preview” for Bull Run show

The cover of the Louvin Brothers' 1960 album, ...

The big show is one day away and we are “rejoicing” that we’ve gotten some excellent press about it! Community Newspapers ran a story in dozens of their (Massachusetts) regional publications (thank you Margaret Smith for writing the article and Ashling Keating for reaching out to Margaret!). You can read the article here. Also, the Lowell Sun ran a photo in their Stepping Out section today. Excellent!

The band practiced on Tuesday night and everyone is sounding great. We decided to record one of the songs (a living room recording) to share with you as a “sneak preview” for Friday. This song is from the first set which is comprised of bluegrass, classic country and some folk. The song, The Angels Rejoiced was written by the Louvin Brothers 50 years or so ago. Dolly Parton recently recorded it. We do her version. That sweet high harmony you hear is my sister’s voice (Corrie Jones). She will be singing with me this weekend. It’s always a treat to have her!

Listen to the the song here. Enjoy and I hope to see you soon (tomorrow would be ideal!).
